The Lyons Paleoecology Lab focuses on the factors affecting and controlling species diversity at multiple scales across both space and time. In particular, we study the effects of global climate change and biodiversity loss on species diversity and community structure. We use the fossil record to understand how species and communities have responded to climate change and extinction in the past to better understand and predict the future.
